Preparing for Your Photo Shoot

9/7/2013

There are a lot of things you can do to ensure a great photo shoot.  Here are a few pointers that will help you along the way.

Headshots

We’ll spend 1.5 - 2 hours together. 3 ‘looks’, i.e. casual, business, upscale. Bring shirts/sweaters/jackets of solid colors only, no logos or patterns. Wear jeans or dark pants. Even if you don’t wear orange, purple or pink in your daily life, it just might look smashing on camera, so think outside the box, no white. But, being comfortable with what you’re wearing is key. Simple collars work best:v-neck, crew neck, scoop neck, no bows, ruffles, large cowl  or anything that could distract from your face. Think about matching your eye color to your shirt. Ladies, very simple earrings, if any & no necklaces. Please be sure to wear a tank or camisole under your top for a quick change or maybe even an additional look.

If you are doing your own make up please arrive ‘camera ready’ (hair & make up completed). Bring some of your own make-up & hair products for touch ups such as lipstick/gloss, powder, hair spray & mirror.

Pups

I’ll spend 1-1.5 hours at your home for a photo session of your dog in his/her natural surroundings. I’ll shoot both inside depending on available lighting as well as outdoors. Having his/her favorite toys around will be helpful as well as a few treats.
I am a dog lover and will have no problem rolling around the ground with your pal to get a great shot!

What Happens After the Shoot?

After our shoot I upload all the pictures onto my computer. I scrutinize every shot to weed out the ones that I don’t think best represent you or your pup. I’ll put the remaining great pictures in a file to send to you. Your job is to choose the 3 shots (2 for pups) that you want to have retouched. Take your time! Actors, it’s always helpful to have several opinions because we’re our own worst critics.

After you make your photo choices I’ll retouch them and get them back to you ASAP.
